Hi all, first time poster here. I received a vanda as a gift about 6 months ago, and it had been doing well until I moved 3 weeks ago. The light may be a bit brighter in its new location, but I have not changed anything else. Unfortunately on one side it seems to have developed yellow and brown spots on the leaves. (links to photos on an unrestricted google drive link - it seems that I am missing some 'security token' to be able to upload photos here). Is there anything I can do to salvage it? Thanks in advance!
To post photos you need 5 posts, so you'll be able to do it soon. Looking at your photos, that Vanda looks very dehydrated. How often, and for how long, are you watering it? The yellow leaf is ready to be shed. When Vandas see "drought" they start dropping older leaves, to reduce water loss by transpiration. Unless it is getting daily rain, it would benefit from soaking in a bucket for an hour or two each day or so.
Hi Roberta, thank you so much for your quick response! I soak it for a couple of hours every several days, and mist it and keep the moss moist daily. I will definitely take your suggestion and soak it every day. Do you think that may allow for the many brown/yellow spots to heal on the one side? thank you
Usually once spots appear, they stay there. Hopefully, they won't continue to increase. Also, Vandas are heavy feeders... if you put some fertilizer in the soaking water (about half of whatever it says on the label) you will address that need as well.
