Possible virus?
Default Possible virus?

Hello all! Hope you’re doing great! I just bought this Vanda and posted picture of these yellow spots on one leaf on Facebook Vanda growers group. I vot a response that it is virus and I should pull the leaf from the stem. I did that, but I would like to get a second opinion, does this looks like a virus?

Thank You,
All help will be much appreciated!

The yellow spot just looks like some mechanical damage. Or maybe an insect bite. Virus is impossible to diagnose visually, but that doesn't even look close.

If a plant DOES have virus, the advice is bad anyway... virus infects an entire plant, removing a leaf would have no effect on it at all. But I think extremely unlikely to be the issue with your plant.

Roberta!!! You’re my savior! I googled a lot of virus infected orchids and it doesn’t look simmilar to me either, the yellow spots are sunken a little, so I thought it to be a fungi of some sort, so I sprayed with systemic and contact fungicide the whole plant after I removed a leaf! It is very gorgeos Vanda so I don’t want to loose it…
Thank You so much again!!!
P.S. I attach an image of blooms!

Agree it's mechanical damage, or perhaps heat damage. Beware of people saying they can identify virus infections on sight. Most of the time it is not possible. And this does not look at all like any of the commoner viral infections. If it were a viral infection removing the leaf would not do anything useful.

Thank You so much for the answer! It really calmed me down! Now sad that I removed a leaf for no reason… But well, she is very strong girl and will grow a ton of new leaves!

That IS a beautiful group of flowers. Best wishes for the plant's continued healthy and blooming!
