Default Thanks to my Dad - I found a way to do it

I ordered vanda seedlings, from a special sale, expecting tiny seedlings which I could put into small pots until they grew a bit (possibly a year or more). When they arrived, I was surprised at the size of the 'seedlings'. I had to put them into 4 inch mesh baskets and some of the roots already hung out of the bottom. Now what do I do?

I poured a cup of coffee, sat down, and had a talk with myself. I am my fathers daughter, if he were were here he would go into my garage and come back saying "this should do what we want it to do". If I belived he could do it.......I should be able to do it.

I found a rack which I use to grow my tomato plants in the summer. I cut the bottom part off with a wire cutter, tipped it upside down, and now I have a rack to put in a tray under my T5 lights. I only had to think like my Dad would have thought. It worked. Thanks Dad.

I can even pick up the complete rack and place it in a large bucket to soak the plants.

Wow those look great and your idea is very creative! How do the hangers attach to the plastic pots you are using? The hangers I have wouldn't work fort something like that...at least I don't think they would?

Becca. The holes in the rim were not in the right places so I just inserted the wire in the first square hole below the rim, bent them up just as I would if they went through the holes. Worked great.

Did I mention what a great Dad I had? Wish I could sit down and have my cup of coffee with him. Oh well, I have wonderful memories to live with.

Wow, good idea! I think I am going to try that if I ever get my new system up... I was stuck on how to mount the little guys... But circles... it's a long story, but it is going to be very helpful! Cheers!

Good thinking! Imagine all those blooming at once!
