Look what I got when i was interning at a local nursery! They were going to throw it out because it was not in bloom. Well 3 months later here it is. It really likes the greenhouse.

Sacriledge! You don't trow out a perfectly good plant just because it doesn't have flowers! Nice Rescue! those flowers are stunning!

OMG, what were those people thining or were they just not in the know of Orchids? I can see supermarkets and big box stores throwing these out but a local nursery!!!
Its gorgeous. I love it. I'm very jealous.

It is a large retail nursery and garden center. As we all know greenhouse space is at a premium no matter how large or small. If a plant doesnt sell, then unfortunately the space is potentially more valuable than the plant itself. Most people will only buy things that are in bloom. Its just the nature of retail. And since the stock is purchased whole sale, they can afford to throw them out. Im just glad that I was there when they were thrown onto the discard pile! I got this one and a V. Dr. Anek and 2 V. Fuch's delight.

A beautiful blue and such large flowers on such a small plant. Our local nursery will put them on a 50% off table once it has finished blooming. Your right, most people want a blooming plant.

Hi Grandma M,
I live in the most isolated city in the world.
No one throws orchids away here, especially vandas... I need to move to another city where there are more freebie orchids...
