Default new acquisitions

As requested by Patty, here are new acquisitions from Satomi's recent list. I actually try to get multi fan/growth ones these days but even after emailing to claim certain ones an hour after she sent out list I lost out on almost all of the ones I wanted! So after what was left these I just happen like for their unique qualities even if they were young an all... crossing fingers they grow quickly. Any further info on variety and culture tips are welcome.

Rasha fukurin
Couldn't find much info on this one but has interesting slight marginal striping with a slightly rough texture to leaf. While probably not the most sought after I really fell for this one for its thin straight leaf arrangement and subtle leaf features.

Houmeiden
I always wanted this one. Reading shore guy's difficulty to get the central striping I second guessed it but finally got one and hoping for the best.

Tenkoubai
Another one without much info (in english) with subtle qualities. I was pretty happy to see she sent me one in spike. Strong pigmentation are part of it's characteristics. Strong pigmentation doesn't seem to be the most appreciated feature with fuukiran but nonetheless I love this feature in plants and have one other neo variety with this. With more light hoping to bring out more of this trait.

Akebono
Pretty well known one for it's unique variegation of internal striping and green margins. Just a single fan, and didn't end up having much roots, another crossing fingers affair. Rooting for it though, love this little guy.

U bada, Wow great plants! If these were your second choices, I think you choose wisely. I don’t have any of these though I’ve been tempted with Houmeiden many times. Yours seems to have good color, hope it continues for you. Admittedly, Shoreguy influenced my decision with this last round of plants as I am not very confident I would be able to grow it properly. I do not have many variegated Neos.

The Rasha fukurin, I find the rough, rasp leaves to be really cool. I have Rasha chabo nishiki and really like the look and feel of this plant. Your plant looks nice!

Lucky you with a nice spike on the Tenkoubai. I’m sure you will have replies on this one soon.

Akebono looks good, I’ll bet it has new roots soon. It’s a big fan, watch for new growth on this one.

I have purchased many Neos that I found very little information on and for me, that is part of the attraction. I do wish Satomi would add a bit of information to her listings much like she has on her eBay offerings. At least there is a small description on eBay. Usually someone on the board, Hakumin, helps me out. I agree with you, Neo hero!

Enjoy your new plants, they are all awesome!

Thanks guys!

Patty, the rasha chabo nishiki is super cool, just saw your post from last year. I wanted to get the kinginrasha on her list but think OW also sells it... eventually I'll get it. I think the rough texture is yet another interesting quality.

The houmeiden I love also for the shape of the leaf and overall growth habit. If high cooler temps, humidity and bright medium light is needed for variegation I may experiment in any of my tanks, just afraid it'll stay too wet in there. I'd be happy with just the combo of the leaf shape, the paler/mintier green and ruby tips. I think if I remember your conditions well, you'd be able to wing it?

Reading Shoreguy's advice on another post of what newbie neo peeps usually do wrong, I have to say it's exciting to get something new and not well known without too much info on it... but I've always liked strange little plants as I believe you do as well... researching is kinda fun. Besides the help Hakumin offers here I luckily have a friend that can research for me on japanese sites.

Al has an amazing akebono for like how many hundreds of dollars, OW has or had a 2 fan for 60... I'll email him eventually and see what specimens he has for say around 100, lol... Before considering neo's, buying an orchid for 100 never made a lick of sense. LOL.

Pattywack,

Sorry for the super late response.

The variegation on U bada's Houmeiden is basal, which is easy to obtain. Inner variegation is what is desirable and difficult.
