Before I got to see one for the first time in person, I always used to think that this variety was overrated.

However, in person, the margins on this variety have an endlessly fascinating, almost luminescent quality that I've never seen in another variety. I never seem to get tired of looking at it.

I guess I can see why it's considered the quintessential Neo variety.

Yup. Beanie with textured leaves plus chirifu variegation.

The variety is said to have been made by crossing Benikujaku and Yodonomatsu, then sibbing the offspring to create Musomaru, then Musomaru was crossed with Fugaku, then those offspring were sibbed to create Kakuozan.

Also, am I correct that they handle all the legal requirements for shipment to the US and all a US customer need do is order from them paying all charges without having to get involved with government plant and customs inspection issues?

Also, I note that 2 week delivery is projected. Are the plants shipped in such a way as to minimize dessication and other issues (mechanical, etc.)?

For customers in the United States, generally yes. However different states and ports of imports have different restrictions so it's important to figure out what's needed.

Individual states may have stricter laws though and those you'll need to research yourself for your own state. California is famous for being extremely strict and they may send it to quarantine anyway and require you to have a permit. Hawaii also has very strict agricultural importation laws so you need to do research if you live in Hawaii.

The 2-3 week delivery estimate actually includes the time it takes to process export paperwork on their side.

Barampung does not unpot the plants until the plants are ready to be shipped after the paperwork is ready. They are shipped bareroot as per legal requirements of import/export. Each plant is meticulously cleaned, treated as per legal requirement, and then wrapped in tissue paper along with the label. The wrapped plants are placed in a styrofoam box. If the weather is warm, they will include an icepack in the box well separated from the plants. The entire styrofoam box is then encased in a cardboard box and shipped via EMS.

With no shipping delays, EMS shipping from Korea to the US will take between 3 and 7 days depending on the final destination. For me, in New Jersey, the package usually takes 4 days to arrive, and I have had a couple arrive in 3 days and a couple arrive in 5.

As long as it's 12 plants or fewer, and you don't plan on reselling them for profit, then no. You don't need to inform APHIS.

And no, the website doesn't have a provision to declare anything regarding import/export regulations or rules. If your shipping address is the US, the owner at Barampung will just automatically add the fees for paperwork and shipping when you ask for the final total.

I guess I should mention. It takes approximately 2-3 weeks for him to obtain the export paperwork.

Beautiful Neos, and they look great in nice fresh, fluffly sphagnum. I love the variegation on the bean leaf, it's quite different looking!
