Default Neo ID?

I ordered a hosoba kinroukaku from orchid web a couple months ago or whatever and it spiked immediately and bloomed out as attached pic.

Looks like kinboshi? Although it's strange the one flower is yellowish considering the the oldest flowers may only be a few days old.

It's most definitely a Kinboshi. Looks like it got mislabeled.

Thanks hakumin...know if it stays small, or does leaf span getting wide eventually?

Orchidweb still hasn't gotten back to me, not the first time... So for procedural purposes, say if I was going to show it (which I probably never do), I could retag as kinboshi and call it a day?

By the way, the yellow flower was on the way out, guess it opened before all the other flowers and I just hadn't noticed. Smells wonderful. Can't wait for it be a full plant.

The precise leaf span will depend on your culture, but it can certainly get wider than yours is right now:

I've heard of frequent cases of mislabeling from them. At least in this case you got a more valuable plant than what you ordered.

Personally, I'm 99.9% certain that it's a Kinboshi. There are no other known varieties that have that kind of tiger variegation in addition to that shape of spurless flower. The chances of a Kinrokaku mutating to have that kind of flower is infinitesimal.

If it were me, I'd just relabel it Kinboshi 金星, and call it a day, though of course i'd keep it in my records that it was sold to me as a Hosoba Kinrokaku.
