I’m thinking I’ll gather my Neos up, toss them in the back of my Jeep and take them for a afternoon cruise, see if that wakes them up a bit. I am so ready for that amazing fragrance again. It’s been a long winter.
Maybe it was the 90 degree weather in Tucson. We are heading back to Kansas to sell our home and go RVing full time. I have been lucky to keep the humidity between 50 and 90 percent in the camper. I have to open one of the doors at night to keep the humidity under 90 percent. Thanks for getting me interested in neofinetias, I am enjoying having them. I figure out I can get three more in the tank instead of one more. I have the pots now only need to find the neos that I want.

BJ,

Congrats on the blooming.

One of the most common mistakes that new Neofinetia growers, and orchid growers in general, make is buying a lot of plants early on before they realize what is available thereby preventing them from purchasing badly wanted plants later due to space considerations. I know it’s hard (almost impossible) but hold off on purchases.

At the very least, there are 2 Neofinetia books from Japan, one hard cover, one soft, pretty easily available from US sellers, with names in English. Most of the plants pictured are not available or ridiculously priced but the books will certainly be informative and give you a better idea of what you might want.

If you fill up too soon, and later want more, that will require expanding your growing area, hard in an RV. Thus to get additional more desired plants wil require getting rid of less desired plants, something difficult due to sentimental reasons. Watch out!

Shoreguy I know the three that I want Senzai, Isechabo, and Suikaden. The last two could be changed if I find something better and it is still a small bean leaf.

Traveling must be the thing that opens buds. We moved from Las Cruces to Albuquerque and all three buds opened.

There is a lot better!

Note picture previously attached here was incorrectly interpreted within the internet to be Kinkujacu evidentially because the title of the thread had that name.

Therefore I removed the picture which appears to have removed the incorrect reference on the internet.

BJ

As I indicated in a previous post in this thread, you are better off looking into all that are available. My telling you what this is only gives you knowledge of one more variety.

Please reread what I said in the previous post.

Most Neo growers know what it is and it’s for you to discover. Hopefully your horizons will be widened in your search finding out about many other worthwhile neos.
