Neofinetia Rakusui - Orchid Board

I recently purchased this Neofinetia from Seed Engei’s mailing list and I’ve found no information about this cute Neo. I understand Rakusui-en is a beautiful traditional Japanese garden however I cannot find any mention of the plant. Anyone have any information to share about this Neo? It is a bean leaf plant, this one is a nice size clump. I’ll try to post a picture, it is a screenshot from Satomi’s listing. The plant has not been shipped yet.

Thank you! If there is any information to be found, it will no doubt be here on the forum. I did ask Satomi about the plant though she has yet to reply. I know she is busy.

I couldn’t pass it up, I’m a sucker for a nice bean clump.

The one description I have found of it so far on the Japanese websites is that it is a "sibling" of Sengaku.

I'll see if I can find more information, but in the mean time, can you take a photo of the stem area and tsuke for me? I suspect that it has Mountain Tsuke.

Also going by the name, I suspect that it has green stem and green roots as well, but I'm not as certain about that yet.

Sengaku is bean leaf variety that is most famous for its very sharp mountain shaped tsuke. Otherwise it is similar in appearance to Tamakongo though it's usually a bit more unruly than Tamakongo.

Hakumin, Thank you for your information and taking the time to search. I do not have the plant as yet, it has not been shipped.

I have Sengaku though a much smaller plant, three fans. Sengaku is smaller than the Tamakongo that I own in leaf span, could be that my Sengaku is simply a younger plant.

I will attempt to post pictures from Satomi’s list that may or may not help with the tsuke. There are not any visible root tips in her photos. The photo may not be of much help. I should receive the plant this coming week.

Hakumin, I don’t know if you follow Seed Engei on Facebook or not. Satomi has the March list still showing and her pictures of this plant are shown there. The pictures may be a better quality than my screenshots. If you want to look, this plant is the 6th plant (approx) when you scroll down her list. Just below the Kaioumaru.

I saw the photos but was hoping for better pics of the stem. It does look like the tsuke is mountain shaped, but I can't make out the other stem characteristics.

I have not been able to find any additional info about the variety so let us know what Satomi says when she responds.

Thank you, I will post pictures of the plant when it arrives and share any information from Satomi. It will be a welcome addition to my collection regardless.

The Rakusui arrived yesterday evening, what a beautiful Neo. There are so many fans I cannot being to count them, vey tightly grown. I am very happy with this plant.

I did not get a reply from Satomi so I emailed her again and explained that I had asked here for any information and I mentioned that it had been suggested that Rakusui was a sibling of Sengaku. Satomi’s reply simply said, “Yes Rakusui is seedling of Sengaku”. So this is the only information I have. The plant is amazing and larger than I expected.

I tried to take better pictures of the stem and tsuke. It looks like mountain shape with some dark coloration in areas. Mostly the stem is green, there are no active roots tips showing. I hope these pictures help, thanks again Hakumin.

Patty I look at Seed Engei on facebook, but I can't find a listing of the neo. Am I not looking in the right place?
