Can you tell if the mother growth's flowers will be triple-spur and colorful, or is it too early?

Too early.

It actually might have to wait till Spring or Summer. The first one or two spikes of the mother was in this state of growth at this time of year and took to Summer to bloom. I anticipate it will be 3 spurred pink with no issues.

This has either not happened or no one who has done it has acknowledged having done so.

Most likely not, but it would depend on what the resulting offspring looks like.

This season's blooming of my Neof. Mangekyo, my best yet.

Photo on the right has blooms with all 3 spurs and all buds with 3 spurs developing. Instead of my kitchen as backdrop, I have upped the class immeasurably with a photo from the 2021 Arizona Highways Calendar, photo by Shane McDermott.

I took the photo on the right instead of waiting for all buds to open for fear the older blooms would start fading. I could have waited for the final bud to open on the spike from the mother plant but was getting impatient. Two flower spikes are involved. All but one bud out of the 6 open on the spike from the mother plant and none open yet on the 5 from the offshoot.

Photo on the left has all buds opened except one of 5 from the offshoot spike. I am surprised no flowers are fading yet.

Second blooming of season. Spurs seem to be darker pink do to greater sun exposure.

That's wild - kind of makes it look more like a classic flower vs. an orchid flower

Very nice!

You noted earlier in this thread that this was a cross between Manjushage and Raizan. (and Hakumin added more info regarding your concerns). I'm just wondering – are you aware of the cross between Manjushage and "Raiko" (presumably Raikomaru?), which in the Korean nomenclature is called "Samhongjeon" (삼홍전; 三紅殿) ?

Yes, it is listed in Barampung's website. It is sold at much lower price than Mangekyo. There are many many issues involving ordering from them. They take care of the legal paper work but the biggest issue for you is determining what the temperature will be in two or thee weeks in Seoul and your location for safe transport following placement of your order. I am neither recommending or discouraging your dealing with them but be aware of what you are getting into.

Pink in the spurs may vary considerably in Samhongjeon more so than Mangekyo from the minimal sample shown on website.

Yes, I know Barampung offers Samhongjeong.

I do have a plant of this variety, but obtained Stateside from another grower in the South.

The flowers on my plant are more pink-tinged than the one shown on Barampung's website.

Yes, I am aware of the considerations of ordering from either Korea or Japan.

(Actually, I got a shipment from Japan recently - after Japan Post resumed EMS service to the USA. Some of the plants had difficulties; some did not.)

P.s. I am not trying to pick a fight with you. I merely asked if you knew about the variety. That was all.
