Shutennou
So this was my first Neofinetia. it's also the first to bloom for me (well just about to). I had it in small bark for it's first year, but I kept it too damp and it's leaves browned and fell off. I then decided to grow it bareroot in a vase (in this case an old Ikea glass candle container) like my other vandas.
I soak it twice a week, spray the roots twice a week and keep it in a south facing window. It gets a seaweed and fertilizer soak every second week.
It has put out a lot of roots this year, and I have been rewarded by this small spike - I am excited - although I do get excited when I see any spike.
In the first pic you can get an idea of how many leaves fell off last year when it was too wet.

Nice! Earlier this year I had a Neo come off its mount, and I also thought I'd try it in a 'vase' (actually just a jar) - and it has seemed quite happy that way. In my case, the mount was just too dry for it. My climate tends to be dry much of the year, so I've been soaking mine daily; so far, so good!

So now I get why people go nuts over these plants. The blooms are so exquisite and the scent is really strong although I'm not particularly keen on it.

Beautiful flowers, love the Shutennou color. I happen to appreciate their fragrance very much and I look forward to next season when the Neos are flowering again.
It is good to see the vase culture is working for you, I grow in moss mounds. Congratulations on the gorgeous flowers!
