I received a new duplicate bean leaf tonight following a great auction bid last weekend and when I unwrapped the clone and went to compare it to my original plant,



...there it was ( beaming in all of its glory), a brand new spring spike (my 1st home produced & must have sprung out overnight) on my newly established home orchid (alpha male?).

Kibana is not a bean leaf. Bean leafs have short leaves.

I don't know if it is a clone (tissue props or divisions). I think Kibana started as hybrids so it could just as well be seed grown. (Don't know which is more economically advantageous for vendors.)

BTW, the Japanese Neos go by a different set of rules (opposed to AOS) so many hybrids (the colorful ones) are still called Neofinetia falcata.

Nice Kibana Charles, why a second one? I hope you will post pictures when it flowers. It is not a bean leaf though. I believe you have a Kuroshinju? That little bugger is a bean leaf and adorable!

I thought, could definitely be mistaken, that Kibana is a hybrid.

Yep, Kuroshinju and Tamakonguo are bean leaf. I'm kinda hung up on the beans and really want a Senzai. The larger Neos take so much more space.
