LOL, I will take partial blame for bring Neofinetia to your attention. But these Furan are so addictive you just can't resist acquiring them.

There were a lot of people posting here. Orchid Board was the starting place for many people. As you have read through the old threads. It is a shame that previous posters have gone on to Facebook. I come here because I feel a sense of loyalty to this OB and I continue to participate because of that history.

I do have a very large collection, many are duplicates. I did not set out to have so many. I have duplicates for two reasons, I was watching an eBay auction, no one was bidding and I low-balled a bid and won! Or there was a feature that a particular variety offered and I wanted to see if that was consistent. For example Nishidemiyako--I have several of this plant because I wanted to see if I can get it to morph.

Matt, thank you for your comment. The curl of the spur is still there this morning, it adds to the cuteness.

I completely understand your collecting duplicates of these plants especially where different features are involved. The morphing of the Nishidemiyako is amazing, I know you must have been very pleased with this plant!

Ok, fair enough. If this is what it takes to encourage you to continue adding Neos to your collection, so be it!

Honestly, I had overlooked them for quite some time. Not having access to Neofinetia as you do with Phals or mini orchids (Andy's) made it easy to pass them by. I had never looked for them on line. I place my "blame" squarely on Al's Orchids and his awesome, well timed 1/2 price sale. It was buying that one plant, that was it. Then I came to the board and fell hard.

Matt and fellow Neonuts here pushed me over the edge.

Charles, I spent hours reading threads here totally engulfed in all the gorgeous plants everyone had/has collected and grown. There are so many informative threads along with photos, it is the best read I've found concerning Neofinetia. I still go back and read them. Some members have large, beautiful collections and eagerly share their experiences. Other growers with smaller collection are equally as helpful and their enthusiasm is contagious.

So no, it really didn't take much and it has been enjoyable to say the least. I am happy there are some expert growers here on this board and they are very knowledgeable and helpful as always. That is the reason I joined OB, the friendly, helpful members from all over the world.

Isechabo 伊勢矮鶏 is considered a "Mame-ba" bean leaf. If you look at Patty's first picture of the entire plant, notice the leaves curve down. Most bean leaf plants the leaves are upright. The plant is not as "brawny" as other beans. Isechabo's tsuke is crescent shaped versus ocean wave. The biggest difference is that Ischeabo's flowers do not face upward and these flowers seem larger than other bean leaves.

When I look at this plant in bloom, my impression is that it is an "odd" plant in comparison to other bean leafs. This plant is appreciated because it is different.

Matt, thank you for the description! Kristen actually calls Isechabo a semi bean leaf and I've seen it described as a fast grower. I too think the flowers are odd for a bean though they are nice.

While most beans have upright leaves, I guess Seikai is a exception to that rule. What a wonky little thing it is! These variations in Neos are all part of their charm.
