Charles, I'm basically a NeoPhyte and so don't know names of the variants/cultivars. I've grown Neos for probably 20 years but until about a year or so ago I was ignorantly unaware that the falcata species had such variety! That said, though, snagging three is a wonderful feat. Enjoy them!

Hey nice! I was watching a couple myself. The Kuroshinju went extremely cheap, I almost bid on it but felt bad. The winner was a new bidder with a feedback of 1. I already have a Kuroshinju anyway.
You got three nice plants! The Setsuzan I won from Seed Engei a few weeks ago is huge with roots to die for. I don't have Kibana. I do have a Kinroukaku I picked up at Al's and it's a nice size. I really try to control myself when I see these awesome plants listed. I'm trying to stay with the bean leaf, they are so cute and tiny.
Didn't you win a Tamakongo a few weeks ago? How is that plant doing? Welcome to Neofinetia, they are addictive as #%!!!

Jkofferdahl, I had no idea either until a few months ago. I had only ever seen them while visiting Al's Orchids. He has quite a lot of them, he sources his from Seed Engei. I bought one in November and I'm still looking. They are just so interesting!

Hahah, happy to help! At least you've been exposed to Neofinetia for years, I'm the newbie. I've only been growing orchids for 4 years and Neos for a few months.
There is not a lot of information available so most of what I've learned has been here on the board. There used to be a lot of Neo growers here, I go back and read old posts.
I look at NWOs listings and Orchid Web, they both have beautiful plants. Then I try to do my research before deciding what to buy or find next. I recently asked Satomi to add me to her mailing list at japaneseorchids. I purchased my last plant from Satomi. They are fascinating and honestly the rarity of these plants just makes me want them more!

Mine are all relatively low end Neos. One I bought from Andy's, a second at a local shop as an impulse. Both ar generic Neos. The third is peloric. The peloric has two bud-laden spikes and the plant impulse Neo has one.

What is it about Neos?
I'm falling behind on Neo collecting, I'm stalled at 20ish. I see Satomi at shows (at least once a year, up to 3x/year) but haven't had any of her plants calling me the last couple of years.

Kinroukaku 金鏤閣, is a tiger striped variety that has beautiful red-tipped roots in the Spring. The description of your plant shows five growths. Looking at the pictures of your plant on eBay, it is hard to see five growths. So I am curious. The stripe is overall yellow as opposed to your other tiger striped plant Setsuzan.
Kibana 黄花 is a yellow flowered plant. Most Neofinetia flowers are white. Somewhere in this plant's ancestry, another smaller sized, yellow flowered Vandaceous plant was bred to a Neofinetia parent. The seedlings produced the yellow colored flowers. Most of the time, when a vendor says it's a yellow flower, the plant has bloomed previously yellow flowers. There are many of these Kibana plants available that some of the plants don't bloom yellow. Some flowers start as cream colored, off white, but as the flower ages, it becomes yellow. I have experimented with this plant by keeping it colder in the winter but in brighter light. Hopefully this will produce brighter color.
Setsuzan 雪山, is another tiger striped variety and is probably one of the first plants new hobbyist acquire in this style of variegation. It is regularly available and is an easy plant to grow. The stripe for this plant is whiter than Kinroukaku. The variegation will sometimes appear as splotched leaves. Some newer leaves may be all white until they mature and the green becomes more pronounced. Overall the plant should look like patches of snow. The translation is "snow on the mountain".
I was watching the Setsuzan auction. It was won in the last few seconds of the auction--well done! Plus you did not get these plants at inflated prices that is often as a result of the bidding. All three look healthy.
Consider yourself "hooked"!

There is noting low end about Neos when you consider: 1) you cannot go grocery shopping and come home with one in the bag, and 2) if you were to do a price comparison between a NOID Phalaenopsis versus a Neofinetia, the Neo would be the more expensive plant. So congratulations on owning high end orchids! LOL!
You said "the peloric has two bud laden spikes". Do you mean the flower has two spurs or nectaries? That is a very appealing flower--if that is what you are describing. If so, is this plant Soubiryu 双尾龍 ?

Yes, I agree with your self assessment. You were one of the first Neo owners that impressed me about growing Neos.
