AnonYMouse, thank you for the information! I've seen this booklet at Al's and I should email SE, as I would love to have a copy.

Congratulations Patty! Excellent acquisition. I watched this auction and knew someone would snipe it!
Setsuzan 雪山 is one of those Furan that every Neofanatic needs (LOL) to own. The 'Tora-fu' (tiger stripe) grows in patches on its leaves. The lyric nature of Japanese would translate to mean "snow on the mountain." It is an easy and fast growing plant. Large long leaves, and after it has acclimated to your environment, easy to flower. Like other Neos, the more growth you have the more likely it will bloom at other times of the year. My plant blooms around mid-June. Other Tora-fu plants include Amanogawa 天の川, Byakko 白虎, Kishusekko 紀州雪虎. There are others that I have not listed here because I, so far, do not own them! But each of the 'Tora-fu' varieties have a uniqueness that makes them have different names. For example, some 'Tora-fu' have yellowish striping, or some are smaller leafed, etc.

Thank you Matt. This is real nice size plant, far more than 6 growths with a lot of new small fans growing. I felt I needed a Setsuzan, lol. I had been watching the auction closely and trying to talk myself out of buying another then decided why not? So I did the wait thing and sniped it! Then as usual, I did my little happy dance, lol.
This plant has old bloom spikes, it has nice coloring so I'm happy with it! It has really thick roots. Snow on the mountain is a beautiful translation. They have another listed now, same starting price, in case you need another. I once called Al a hoarder, you might be one too. Hehehe

I read this and laughed out loud forgetting I was at an incredibly boring conference call, stopping the conversation and having the host ask me what was so funny.
Fortunately, I was the only one in the conference room and saw a person crossing the intersection outside my window and got almost hit by a bicyclist, which I thought would have been funny as they were both pre-occupied because they were on their cell phone! Ironically the agenda topic we were discussing was how to encourage our fellow employees to stop being on their cellphone while walking or driving.

Ooops Matt, sorry but nice you were to able to save yourself. Al actually agreed with me at the time and he IS a hoarder with all those nasty red tags on precious plants.
I've seen many pictures of your plants, I'm aware you have multiples of a few, nothing wrong with this. Glad I could bring a little laughter into your boring morning.

Neofinetia falcata Setsuzan from eBay
Patty, I am a Furan-hoarder! The first sign you know you are having problems is to admit there is a problem! But I say better a Furan-hoarder than a gambler or other addictions LOL!
Here is a picture of my Setsuzan hoard!

Nice hoard Matt! But I don't see this as a problem. As long as you enjoy them, have the room for them and the right conditions, go for it. Life's too short.
That would be one mass planting! Surely Setsuzan is not your only hoard.
