Neos & Hybrid in Bloom
Default Neos & Hybrid in Bloom

These are a bit old, but since I had problems with this website, now I get to share them here.

The first is Kinrokaku back in April.
I don't know why it flowered so early, but I loved it. The plant in spike again at the moment.
I also have one more of the same variety which is now in spike. Yay!!!!

Cherry Blossom in May.
I have two plants, but only took photos of one.
It has nice subtle fragrance during the day.

My old Amami Island neo in June.
I thought it was recovering nicely, but then it is cranky again. I don't know what the problem is.

Shojyo in July.
It had two spikes, but one blasted, and the other spike blasted some buds leaving three flowers.

One of my pink neo just finished flowering last week, but I didn't take photos.
So since April, I have been enjoying non-stop neo (and hybrid) show and fragrance. now is the drought until next few plants come into bloom. I guess in next month.

Beautiful! It looks like you are using a bark mixture for the potting medium, can you tell me more about it?

I've been absent from this website for a long time, so now I'm answering you here.

I have nearly all my neos in "typical" orchid mix that I use, which consist of orchiata, clay balls, perlite among others.

I do not like repotting anything, and traditionally, neos are supposed to be grown on a sphagnum moss mound which needs to be changed every spring.

Another thing, I had ruined neo roots in the wet moss in the past, so I'm trying to keep them alive. lol

In Japan and Korea, you have to use moss, especially if interested in entering competitions. Also, other growers will look at you funny if you don't follow the "tradition".
haha
