Just so you know, if you want to kick it out...you can feel free to kick it my way.

This was a little pricy (it's all relative). I got it as a 4 growth and now has 6 growths. So no kicking or abusing of any kind!

Yea, I figured it was not your average $20 plant buy but...you know, I'm so self-sacrificing that I would gladly take it off your hands should you decide it needed to find a new home. Yea, I'm giving like that. LOL!
Seriously though...it is beautiful...the color is very nice. I'm not even slightly versed in Neos so it's possible that it's more common than I was aware but I don't believe I have ever seen one w/that color. Very nice!

If the day should ever come, I will keep you in mind!
Yup, Koyo is an odd duck. Not rare by any means (pssst, Kristen has some by the name of "Kouyo") but often overlooked. Really unremarkable without the blooms.
I'm not involved in any of the Fukiran communities so I don't know where the issue stands today but my understanding is that most of the colored Nf's are hybrids, bred back into Nf's and so on. I'm not aware if some authority has decreed so or otherwise.
I have a couple of other hybrids (Anzumaru and a SE NoID...and a Yusui-which was bred but might still be species?) and they are proving hard to bloom in Amami light.

If you are ok with artificial hybrids, there are quite a few Neofinetia-look-a-like with intense color, Katrina. And Kouyou (meaning red sun) is a hybrid as Ree said. For the red flower, if it is deeper than pale pink (like Shutennou or Shoujou), it is likely to be a hybrid. There are some pure species with fairly deep red, but the color of Benitengu is probably the limit at this point. A link to Benitengu. Yellow ones are almost always hybrid. There are yellow flower pure Neo, but they are very pale.
Yuusui (幽翠) with green flowers should be pure species as far as I know.

Did the strong color stay??
One of my pink neo opens up quite dark, but then in a few days, it will lighten up a bit.
That is pretty!

It is a gorgeous little thing. However, it is not a pure Neofinetia. It is a hybrid with something, which I have not been able to track down yet.
