Neofinetia falcata `Nishidemiyako`
Hello,
i just got this plant for my birthday and i am not sure about it's light needs. My other Neofinetia's i have in the windowsill with a few hour late afternoon sun which they seem to like. Anybody got some advice?
also some pictures of my flowering `Shutenno` which has a very nice scent and my cherry blossom which only now has started to produce a faint fragrance after flowering for about 2 weeks!

Me too. But they are nice blooms. Love the variegated leaves on the first one. I'm just starting these.

Me too, just starting. Got mine in clay pots with chunky bark. I need a variegated one too. Those are nice.

I am not a Neo expert, but do have a handful of them. I do grow one with a similar amount of variegation, and it does fine growing alongside my others getting a few hours of mid-late afternoon sun.
Hopefully some Neo experts can chime in to ensure I don't steer you wrong!

With one exception, my variegated and non variegated Neos are treated the same.
Tora's are another matter. I'm still working out my Karanishiki.

Nishidemiyako grows like regularly solid green Neofinetia. I have all of my variegated leaf plants closer to the window and place my green leafed plants further away.
Nishidemiyako has a potential to mutate to or produce another variety such as MANAZURU, Tamanishiki, and GINSEKAI. This mutation is dependent on how much light it gets along with air temperature, moisture, and luck. This is why this plant is so popular because of this potential.

I was just about to type that on your thread hope you find the magenta one!
I do like the colouring on these flowers, they remind me of a children's ice cream!
Maybe that is why i think the faint scent they have smells like peaches

Aha! thank you for the explanation! it'll be exciting to see if this plant mutates at all!
i was kinda afraid to give it a more prominent spot in the window because i thought that might dilute the yellow striping, i'll give him a better spot in one of my hanging pots today
