AnonYmouse is right. The term mameba nishiki describes a bean with the possibility of stripes OR a bean crossed onto a regular stripe... It could very well be an UN-named variety ... Or it could just be a tamakongo that was mislabelled. Nonethless it is a pretty plant and nice heaven facing fragrant blooms! Enjoy!

In the photo my avatar too MAMEBA NISHIKI from NWO. I bought it there for more than 5 years ago. As can be seen, there is quite a different flower. Unfortunately, somewhat years ago, I sold it and the show now I can not.

Blooming again!
It is blooming again! I can't believe it! My other (a wild-type) has only ever bloomed once a year so I think I am in love with this little mystery bean. I really need to buy some more mystery neos.

I am sure yours will soon. This is only the second time this one has bloomed so I really do not know what it is doing. I think this is the seedling that was always confused and growing during the winter, even in the window. If it is any consolation, I have no idea if my Awa Har Beni is ever going to bloom. It just keeps putting out fans and roots. Then there is the sibling to this one and it hasn't bloomed, yet, either. :|

Something has been bothering me about the other plant. It is Awa Hari Beni. It's Japanese, a word will never end in a R. I believe it translates to wave (or foam-like sea foam) needle red.
