Default Neofinetia falcata Soubiryu, first bloom this season

My soubiryu blooms very faithfully every year, but as always, I'm excited to see it again this year. The first flower opened last night from a total of 7 buds growing on 2 spikes. Two of the buds only have one spur each and the rest of them have two.

Great pics. I like the presentation and the pot! The sorbiryus will throw more flowers per spike once the plant gets more growths. Mine had 8 flowers in one spike and 7 on the second. As they mature into their 4-5 year, most or all flowers will be double spurred as well! So try not to divide and keep in clump! Time always is the key to fab neos!

Thanks for the kind words!

The rest of the flowers on that spike opened up throughout the day today and I'll try to post some photos of that soon. The other three buds on the spike in the back still have a week or two of development to go. Hopefully I can catch a photo with all the blooms open before the first spike declines.

Also thanks for the compliments on the pot as well. I'm a bit of a ceramics fanatic, so getting the nice pots for my neos was only a natural thing to do. While this pot wasn't very expensive (about $25 US), I think it's rather attractive and nicely made. It was made by the Haji studio in Korea in red coarse porous clay with white clay inlay. The body is made in a mold, hence the lower price, but the finishing is done by hand.

White clay inlay? That's pretty labor intensive. Lovely pot for a lovely Neo.

Talking

Your display is stunning and true to what I'm told is how these should be grown. I said it before and I'll say it again...NJ has awesome growers! More pix please.

Well, all the flowers are finally open! While it's not the best photo, I had to make do with my phone camera since I didn't have my dslr with me.
