Neofinetia Falcata 'Hisui', any day now...
I'm so excited. I cannot take credit for the spike, I purchased the plant in March. But I haven't killed it, and the spike didn't abort! I'll take credit for that for sure!!
I cannot wait for this bud to open. I've been terrified that it was going to blast, but today I saw the first petal had peeled itself back and oh... I am in love with this diminutive plant... I may like it a bit more than I like puppies.
Well, okay, maybe not as much as puppies, but the emotion is quite close.
I had to share this pic, even though it's not an open flower because I just can't contain my excitement.

Of course, you can take credit for keeping it alive.
I love green/white flowers, and this one certainly is super cute and elegant!
Did this come with spike back in March and now it is blooming???
I only have the white one, Amami island version, and mine normally takes about little over one month from spiking to open bloom, which it is now in its full glory!
I notice yours also have rather short spur compared to the images I've seen on line just now.
could be a seed grown variation?
Well, please post a picture of the whole thing when fully open.
Now I have to buy this one, too!

Anticipation, anticipation
Is makin' me late
Is keepin' me waitin'
I wonder if Carly Simon grew Neofinetia? I remember when you got this plant Random. When your flower opens, you will be very pleased. My Hisui just opened last night and its scent is truly worth waitin'.

It has two spikes. The other one is growing slower, I think it will do better when I give it a bit more light, but I have been reluctant to move it since I saw this bud forming. They were just starting when I got it. I'm not sure if this one was seed grown or not, but I could email the vendor I got it from and find out.
The spur seems to get longer every time I see it. It may still be growing. This is my first neo, so I'm not that familiar with them, but the length of the spurs seems to vary on different plants. I was expecting the spurs on this one to be a bit longer too. We'll see what it does.

Mine, the plain white one (Amami island clone), grows long spur to its full length before the flower begins to open.
There are so many different neos, and I do not know much. Maybe the spur growth is also one of the things that are different among neos.
I was just curious.
Can I ask where you got this from?
You can PM me if you rather not post in public.

Sure thing! I purchased it from Botanica Ltd at a local orchid show.

Congratulations! I killed my green neo. Still have the white Amani and pink Shuteno. I love the look of the green flower. Even the neo buds look great! It will open soon.
