In another thread, Leslie called flowers that faced upward, "heaven facing". Here is my "heaven facing" bean leaf, in bloom. It is a small plant and these flowers are also small. The flowers seems irridescent in contrast to the dark green leaves of the plant. It does have a lovely fragrance--like the scent of gardenias.

Wonderful growing Matt! These flowers pray to the heavens to bring great luck to the grower who take care of them!

Thank you Joy and Leslie. I do feel fortunate that I own this plant and that it would flower in my care.

I love the dark green foliage against that pure white of those lovely flowers. Well done Matt

Precisely desertanimal. You tied up the imagery for me. The tradition of putting bells on roof eaves, or placing wind chimes in the garden, or lighting candles in sacred places, and now, growing plants whose flower calls Observants to prayer...thank you.

This also reminds me of the song and the flower Edelweiss. Several years ago, I had the opportunity to visit my friends in Switzerland. My hosts took me to their family farm where they were taking their cows to the high meadows. The hillside was filled with these small, white flowers of edelweiss. They had a lovely fragrance. The line in the song "Every morning you great me." And "Bless my homeland forever." are entwined in this imagery.
