Hanakanzashi is variable in its flowering. Most years it will bloom normal flowers. Occasionally it will have triple spurs and even within the same spike the spurs will be absent or missing parts. However at it's glory, it is stunning when it blooms true to form. Mine has bloomed normal flowers last 2 years and it is quite a large mature plant with 8 growths plus babies. I did however get another plant this year from Florapeculia that is a guaranteed triple Hanakanzashi ... It's still 1-2 years from bloom. I also have another triple red called Benikanzashi which has 9 growths and still hasn't bloomed yet... Sighhhhh

I'm glad you are feeling better, Ginger. You can give the doctor credit but I believe he had a pretty good patient! Besides, I bet you were so anxious to get back to your Neos...you just HAD to get better to take care of them! I took one of my Neos to work today, and every time I saw it, I couldn't help but feel better. Weird huh?

Leslie, you have three, three spurred Neofinetia? I've seen pictures of your Manjushage--beautiful plant and flowers. I hope you can photo your others with three spurs.

LOL! I took my Fuji-Nishiki to work today. It has three flower spikes for a total of a dozen flowers. All but three flowers bloomed. A team member wanted to see one, so I brought it to work. After the initial oohs and ahhs...I put it on my desk so anyone who came by my office could see it. I had several visitors come by as they heard I had an expensive and exotic orchid.
Ginger, you have this plant...I recall it was beautifully variegated. Has it bloomed for you?
