I have two neos that have unusual root formation. One side is mud roots and the other side of SAME growth throws ruby roots!!! Probably due to some variegation gene that was expressed in adulthood... Looks like new growths maintain the normal mud roots....
It is indeed strange. I noticed this on my Manazuru and Shiraito nishiki. For some reason, roots that sprout out of areas that are variegated come out with ruby roots. Super neat!!
