My kinbotan of 4 years is finally throwing ruby roots! Now just waiting for yellow ghost leave to grow. This one needs a little less light than normal neos to shows it's best.

That's such a gorgeous pot; I really like the color. I lost my Kinbotan so unfortunately, have no personal tips to offer. Satomi mentioned some info on Kinbotan a while back on the SE facebook page. She visited one of the best fuukiran growers in Japan a few Summers ago and she said that he keeps this variety in a particular area of the shadehouse where it does not get the water run off from other plants because it is known for wussy roots. Also, he only grows it in regular terracotta clay pots (with all the other varieties) because he found them to grow much better that way.
Thanks LinhT for the tip! I have grown mine in more shade and drier as well. It grows in this small pot for last 4 years and I keep a vigilant eye on it every day. So sorry to hear you lose yours ...
