Good Afternoon all,
New World Orchids will be the speakers at our society meeting tonight. Any suggestions on which Neofinetia to bring home? I have a Darwinara (which I have yet to rebloom). I plan on asking plenty of questions to remedy that situation.
A fragrant one would be nice! Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Have fun picking among them!
Look through their website and jot down the names of a few that you like. When they came to our society, they brought some in bloom. Just ask them to recommend one if you can't choose. Some of them need quite a few fans to bloom while others will bloom with a single fan. Good luck and show us what your bring home!

Some things to think about:

• Price. A variegated bean leaf is VERY pricey. An Amami furan is the least expensive and a bargain for its reliable, easy, fragrant flowerings. You can add $ for each variable characteristic.

• Flowers. Odd flowers or standard, white, green, yellow or pink.

• Ease of growth. Variegated leafs are fussy about light. Bean leaf (based on my experience with a Senzai) is a sloooooooooooooooooow grower.

The rest, I think is about your personal preference; clumpers vs. sprawlers (I don't think these are recognized traits), thin vs. wide leaf, curved, straight, twisted leaves. If you want to dive into the deep end, look at tsuke, root tips and jiku.

I probably have the least number of plants among the OB Neoficionados (I don't have a tora-fu) so I hope the others will chime in with their experiences.

Tamakongou, a bean leaf, and a pink would be nice. Benisuzume, Toyozakura, and Shutennou are good pinks to start with. Kristen is awesome and you'll learn lots. Hope you have a great time!

I hope AmyG does post back with her purchases. The Greater Cincinnati Orchid Society is a large group, they have hosted the MidAmerica Orchid Congress. Leafmite, three Neofinetia? I bet they are thriving!

Good Afternoon All,
Kristen was great! She gave a very interesting and informative talk on Neo's which everyone really enjoyed. I ended up getting these: A Chosentetsu and a Gojyo Fukurin. Beautiful!
Now, after that talk last night, I'm thinking I should do something with my Darwinara x Neofinetia Rainbow. Maybe the Vanda basket wasn't the best idea... I damaged a lot of roots two years ago when it first went in there. I guess I still need to be patient. Any suggestions?
Again, thanks to all who have already responded with their comments and suggestions!
