Default Death By Winter

Thinking my plants and I survived the winter without any one lost...I finally found the time and temperature to go outside and get my back deck ready for spring. I had lazily kept one of my grow shelving case at the end of the deck and didn't bother to take it down. There were a lot of brown leaves at that end, so I decided to start cleaning up over there. Sadly, I came cross this tray of Neofinetia and hybrids that I forgot to bring in with all of my other plants. Twelve lovely plants now just a mound of moss, and plastic pots.

Thanks Joy. It was not only expensive BUT even worse, so terribly thoughtless. When I gave myself permission to just leave that shelving unit standing, instead of putting it away for the winter--which I always do, I could have saved these twelve lovely plants.

I just bought a Neo.falcata x Sederia japonica Summerstar that should be arriving this week. I am so terribly sorry for your loss. I know they are not people, but I would just hate myself if I did something like that.

Aw Matt I'm so sorry. This happens a lot though so don't feel so bad. I hate when I forget about plants outside.

Now I'm going to have to enjoy this Neo.falcata x Sederia japonica vicariously. I was looking forward to how this plant will grow. It is a rare plant that I do not see available.

Yup, I don't always forget plants outside. The last time I did that was several years ago, when I left a bunch of Amaryllis bulbs in the garden. I went to work thinking I would dig them up before a hard freeze came in, but when I got back a week later, there was half a foot of snow on the ground and ice on top of that.

Yeah Peter has these. He also has a vanda x sedirea cross that's pretty interesting. I got one. It's a beautiful plant too.
