True.

You may feel weird or creepy if you are subjected to, but it depends. I had some unfortunate incidents because of people who are only attracted to Asians. I am not expecting "sorry to hear that," but it is ridiculous. It can be harmful just like any fetish/attraction.

Maybe not a part of "the" problem. My criticism is mostly directed to who should have been the educators, I do like to occasionally poke fun at followers/believers, though. They surely deserve criticism, especially if there is an economic gain. I am not sure if anybody has cast a doubt on their credibility, but I do think, people who are aware of problems, but not saying out of courtesy or whatever are also a part of the problem of perpetuating the myth. Many people are not just into switching a belief even if they see it by themselves.

Additionally, I was told my loudmouthing this issue made some AOS judges aware, so at least I might have done something. I know it is AOS, but.

While I do think that may not be a bad idea, I prefer writing for society newsletters or even Orchids. I highly doubt they would retract or issue corrections. Sorry if I sound holier-than-though, but I could care less about non-orchid people. Orchid people like you and me matter because we are the source of supposedly "correct" information. I wish at least the writer had used words like "allegedly" or "legend has it." I may have a problem because things I pointed out were presented as "facts."

I am kinda done with this thread. I have many tuberoids to pot up. At least, I didn't kill a thread this time.

Info on Fukiran Female
Default More info on this wonderful group of orchids

Have you guys seen the Fūkiran Society of America? It has history, repotting, culture, pots, vendors, links, books, names, gallery, shows/events, etc. This is all in english. I tried to put the link but it denied the post.

The books are in Japanese but maybe a librarian or nearby university with japanese language students could help. The founder of the American society you will find at the last link below -Palomar Orchid. Maybe contacting her could help or an application that translates from japanese to english. One of the books mentions the varietal names are in english.

Hope some of this helps
