For #3, I believe Hana Matoi is the one whose flower doesn't fully develop/open and remains looking like a matchstick. So it sounds like it would be something along the lines of an unopened flower. How does that sound? Any way to make it more pretty/poetic? LOL

I did figure out what the things are. English name is Matoi:
Matoi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wiki says it is a type of flag, but I am not sure, though. Its origin, however, may be flags used by Samurai clans:

Wikipedia entries can be often helpful when it comes to translated names, but they are not in this case. Matchstick isn't bad actually to describe the shape, and still better than "Floral Flag-like Sign used for Festivals."
