February seemed to be a continuation of January's too cold temperatures, too much snow, high velocity winds, and polar vortex. There were signs of emerging growth earlier in the month and lately in the past two weeks, root tips started emerging from plant bases, new leaves poking out of plant crowns, and there are several spikes starting to poke out of the Tsuke.
But winter keeps a stranglehold on our weather. Through next week, daytime temps remain in the teens, wind chill below zero. Today, I brought the Neofinetia troops to the kitchen sink and got them completely soaked. I am happy to see my plants are starting to grow. I did not loose any plants (knock on wood). Winter will soon wane. I am going to increase water volume, I'll keep
misting them daily.
How have your Neofinetia wintered?
