Ok guys so clearys wasn't doing the trick. My research suggests that it is brown rot that has hit these plants and while I have removed and destroyed those worst affected, I have isolated those that show very little signs of the rot and soaked them, completely submerged, in phyton 27 and then sprayed the rest of my entire collection heavily with the rest. I will repeat this in a few days. I am also abandoning my grow room and will likely get a grow tent that will easily fit inside my basement and before stocking it, I will wash down my racks with a bleach solution and the. Likely even repaint them to keep rust at bag as well, once I do a little sand blasting. I have several awesome plants showing bad signs but I've resigned to the fact in can lose a few good plants or I can lose them all. I choose the former not the latter.

My research suggests that I need to remove the affected tissue too. Ug. I will but I'm not liking this. I'm not sure what to do besides what I've already done.

Btw here's my newly planted Senzai in sh.

Does the one clump look awfully yellow? I'm not sure if my nutrition is correct for it.

The clump on the left is indeed yellow... it reminds me very much of some of my plants no doing so well. In my case, I believe it is fungal infection, but I can't decide if it is Phytium/Phytophtora (black rot), Rhizoctonia or Fusarium (less likely).
By the time you see the leaves yellowing (later they shrivel and fall), it is late because most of the roots are black and dead. I lost several plants like this recently (as well as last year), and mostly miniature bean leaves like Senzai, Kuroshinju, etc. (I don't know if they are more prone to it or if I am not good at watering those).
The disease is not very fast (several weeks to kill a plant) but very "efficient". I have saved some plants trying different treatments (so I am not sure which one really works!), H2O2, sulfur powder / copper powder, Listerine, Physan20, diluted bleach ...
I recently got my hand on some heavy duty fungicide (Banrot) and treated all my Neos(but I don't like that heavily toxic thing!!!), finger crossed.

I hope you see the end of it quickly and save as many Neo possible !

Thanks for the input. This senzai has been like that for many weeks now. It also has some bad roots so I think it might be the lack of nutrition and the high light I provide it. Otherwise it seems fine. But perhaps I need to separate the two clumps?

edited to say I just checked my patients and they seem perfectly fine, at least for now.

The higher the light, the more nutrition a plant needs. I would add a steady source of calcium and a little extra iron and magnesium in the watering. Good luck!

Thanks Leafmite! I'm heeding s.kallima's warning but these little guys have been this way for a while and I really do think they're needing better nutrition-- i suppose time will tell. This poor clump was dropped from several feet by accident and many of the tips from broken and bruised and a few root roots broken-- so it was a set back for sure.

I feel with u Ryan,...

Since a week or 3 my new, very nicely variegated fugaku was suddenly showing small brown dots which quickly grew and decemated the top leaf. I acted quickly and pulled the leaf off, together with spraying it down with the only fungicide I had and moving it to a dryer room etc... The spots halted for some time and now tonight I noticed one teeny tiny spot that was just one millimeter big 2 days ago just took over the whole leaf, turning it brown to it's base . Now the other spots are definetly active again and I'm kind of losing hope.

I searched through every store here that might sell anti fungal or bacterial chemicals... but so many are forbidden here in Europe and they just don't seem to sell anything unless it's for fruit trees or moldy lawns... (the latter one I already used since it was effective against different varieties of fungi)

The plant has only one big fan free of spots so now I am tempted to risk the whole plant by removing the seemingly healthy fan from the rest of the plant...

I see u are struggling as well and it all just doesn't seem fair when out of a sudden everything seems to go wrong and nothing seems to be helping...

good luck over there... I hope u can save your collection! I'll have my fingers and toes crossed for the both of us!

Dries

Thanks for the moral support. 😁. I've spent the last few days moving all the plants to their new homes unless they show signs of illness in which they either get tossed or they get isolated.

This is the latest shot of my Fugaku.

That one has beautiful leaves!!!

I wish you the best in your effort of saving as many as you can.

I didn't know these little guys can give so much headache.

I only have two.
One typical white flowered neo, but a super grower with many many fans, which is now growing roots and fans again.
The other is a tiny hybrid between white flowering neo and lou sneary.
I guess I will be content with just two for now. lol

Neil, they really aren't that hard, but unless you can hit the sweet spot with your environment and culture requirements, they weaken and I happened to get a sick plant and that was it... It spread and now I'm fighting it off. I think it's working but you have to take one day at a time. As hard as it may be, next time I will toss the plant right away, or, if its in sh I will isolate and treat aggressively.

One of my patients was showing signs of more rot and I hit it with phyton and removed the bad tissue. It shows no further signs of the disease so far but maybe too soon to tell but usually when I would cut out bad tissue the healthy tissue right next to it would show signs within 24 hours. That has not happened and instead the cut has dried.

I've had a bad bad orchid year but things are already turning around. I'm finding more and more spikes on my phals and even found a spike on a vanda type, Mikasa, that I was told would never bloom for me because it arrived in such bad shape. So good things are beginning to happen.
