because it is a way of life to the Japanese...it is a given to excel on those or don't do it at all....ikebana, sushi, bonsai and Samurai orchid culture masters are not considered treasure because everyone who dares do this must aim for excellence. Mediocrity to the Japanese is not tolerated=they commit suicide if they fail and lose face.
Whereas, the main singer of the Bunraku is a national treasure and a superstar just like the 'Mako' geisha from the house of Gzen who is 78 years old is a national treasure and everyone stops on their tracks and stop whatever they are doing when she is carried in a rickshaw from her house to the Sponsor of the day.
