Bumping this again to seek out facebook stragglers who haven't joined the Neofinetia group on FB yet.
There are now more members and much more posting activity in the past couple weeks, including from some notable Neo luminaries and many of the usual suspects from here as well.

What do people post on FB that people can't post here?

The FB page makes it easier to post photos, group of photos and respond to questions and/or comments much faster. Efficiency goes up tenfolds in the group. I have almost completely stopped posting photos on the forum because I have to upload the picture somewhere else first (flickr), then create links to it in order to show a picture. But on FB, all I do is snap a picture and immediately upload it. It's fast and easy.
Also, it feels a little more personable when there are REAL names and faces to who is saying what. But I dunno, maybe that's just me and I'm biased? After all, my SN here is my real name and my avatar is my actual face (in the dorkiest look, ever).
Furthermore, people respond quickly on FB. Probably because 90% of the world is always on FB anyway, and so they can combine their orchid life and personal life, all in one page. It's a win-win situation for me.
If y'all haven't joined the group yet, now is as good of a time as ever. Lots of member activity. Perhaps it's due to Spring. When our plants grow, there's something to show off!

There are still a few interests in privacy you know ;-)
The forum still gives that, and doesn't mix personal life and orchids which I like.
I can still follow the FB group, and without a real name either. It has a good amount of discussion, but the sad thing is that is a closed circle, and simple orchid amateurs won't see any of the information exchanged because it won't even show in a google search! Too bad...

Not to stray too far from the topic of orchids, but I understand why many have serious reservations about entwining their personal lives with the all-seeing facebook. Personally I do as much as I can to minimize exposure of my personal details to facebook, with my privacy settings sharing almost no info and only minimum required info entered at all.
Off topic link on that tangent that I just stumbled across this evening on our local paper's website:

Oh I know that Tracy, I wouldn't bet more than a Neo plastic pot (the twisted ones ) that Jay would find my real name, but he could only via this forum, not FB. It show in all the exif of my pictures and I am fine with it. But as a daily forum discussion, I like pseudos better, it give a "je ne sais quoi" !
