I have also had this brown spot development over the winter, mine affected my fugaku I recently got and it killed the entire plant up until 2 leaves remained... now it is lost in the shadow zone between life and death since it has 2 healthy leaves but no viable roots.
Also yesterday another brown spot appeared on another plant, but I immediatly cut that part of the leaf off. My previous mistake is waiting what the spots would do, they didn't do much but some new appeared and then suddenly overnight the leaf got affected up to the core of the plant!

I think good systemic fungi-/bactericides are a good tool in this fight, but here in Belgium I just can't seem to find any good systemic fungicide anymore, many are banned from use. And I think the ones that are still used are only available for dealers and growers in big quantities. The ones I can still find here are mostly specific for certain fruit diseases and are mostly non systemic.

greetz,
Dries

Oh no Dries! That is awful--especially your Fugaku. That is a very difficult plant to re-acquire inexpensively. You are not able to get Thiomyl? What is it with all the European bans of insecticide, fungicide, and insecticide?
