Vanda Sansai Blue in bloom
My Vanda Sansai Blue is blooming first time for me (the plant has bloomed before tho) and I love it! I bought it in Feb. and it was so desiccated at the time that I was worried I might lose it. I contacted the vendor and she said she will bring me a new one next year. Well, it survived anyways!
There are 4 flowers open and 3 more buds. I have this potted in a 7 inch pot that is sort of like a basket. Quite heavy slats and large holes in the bottom. It has a few pieces of medium bark and some moss tossed in to help retain moisture but has a lot of open space in the pot also. It grew lots of new roots and shoots from old ones since I have had it and 4 new leaves. I was able to leave this for 5 or 6 days at a time in 30C heat and lots of sun while we were away in Aug. I just made sure I soaked it real well, each time we came home from the lake to tend to the yard and greenhouse.
The colour of the flowers on my computer is quite true. No scent that I have noticed.

I am very proud of you, silken! Growing Vandas in your grow zone is a big challenge. I thought I was lucky to grow Vandas in a Manhattan apartment....but you managed to bloom Vandas in zone 2b ! Good Job !

Thanks HighSeas, Bud and TOMMYMIAMI
Bud, thanks for your compliment. We're cold in the winter here but do get lots of sun and warmth in the summer at least. I picked a hybrid with lots of coerulea in it so that it will be OK in the cool greenhouse in winter.
