Default Superb Packing, Fast Shipment, Beautiful Healthy UNDAMAGED Plants

Unfortunately many of us have experienced plants poorly packed and arrived damaged. I have had my share of bad packing, poorly boxed, and damaged plants. I always email the vendor when ever this happens to me.

Today I received a box of Neofinetia that I ordered on Monday and it arrived today. These three plants together cost less than what Jayfar bought for his one plant he purchased recently. His plant arrived damaged.

I would like to share my experience with another vendor out of Plymouth, Minnesota. The box was well packed:

When I opened the box, it contained three plants wrapped in white newsprint paper--taped securely around each plant.

Inside the mummy paper, the plant was in packing grass, enclosing the plant, cushioning it.

Removing the packing grass revealed this small, healthy plant. There was a wooden stake inserted in the pot, protecting it from any potential damage.

I had to share this with you all because there is a right way to pack plants and there is a wrong way to pack plants. When I received this shipment of plants from this vendor from Plymouth, Minnesota, and recently from Manchester, Michigan--I felt these vendors demonstrated their respect for the plants and their desire to provide me with a plant that left their home to arrive healthy in my home.

I admit I shop for bargains, I have learned it is not just the plant you are buying but that vendor's service. Yes, there are some vendors who are a little bit more expensive than others, but you get what you paid for it.

Thanks for that.

In fact here's actually a page on their (Orchids Ltd.) website explaining their packing process in detail.

After unpacking, I keep that heavy packing paper to use as a work surface on my floor when I do repotting.

Peter Lin's Big Leaf Orchids is another who takes an extreme high degree of care in packing.

I agree and I am always willing to pay a bit extra for good packaging.

My worst experience was from a vendor in Louisianna that I purchased a mounted phal mannii from. It arrived, loosely packed with newspaper, and had obviously been bunged around. And they didn't take too kindly to my constructive criticism about it.....

I also find myself telling people to write PLANTS - TAKE CARE on the box, and then someone told me they won't because they were worried they would be inspected !

Peter Lin is a master at packing plants. He can turn a sheet of newsprint into a structural container that can take weight and protect a plant.

I tried to learn from him at the 2012 IPA Symposium. I need more lessons.

The plants, the packing, the pots ... all look "high quality". Thanks for sharing.

I always start searching for a orchid at Orchids Limited because the have very healthy strong plants, they will initiate a call to me if necessary, and even their eBay plants are packed as you just described Matt. If you don't see what you are looking for on their beautiful website you can give them a call as they have many more Neos than listed.
Smile, now both Matt & I should get a discount on our next purchase. Rolf
