I'm not sure about the source and causality link.

I had a Minmaru I got from J&L Orchids from one of their Japan trips that grew beautifully for about 2 & 1/2 years in bark in a small glazed pot on my kitchen window sill until it bloomed. Once the bloom finished it went downhill really fast and was dead in about 2 months.
