Default Repotting Vanda (Neofinetia) falcata Kinuura-Nishiki 衣浦錦

I received this plant several weeks ago. It had beautiful flowers and was very healthy. The flowers lasted about two-three weeks, it had three flower spikes. The lower leaves were variegated, as described by our vendor. Very happy with it.

Last night, I found the time to repot it, as you can see from the vendor's pictures, many healthy roots but needed to be tidied.

I removed the frayed and limp sphagnum moss, and in the process, I pulled off this little growth, which I have circled in blue.

I was totally shocked, thinking I had damaged the plant, I was an awful re-mounder, I was careless...OYE, such drama!

But upon inspection of the severed growth, it appeared that this was a smaller seedling added to the clump? Or maybe the mother plant decided it was big enough to grow on its own?

Now I have two Kinuura-Nishiki 衣浦錦--the larger mother, and its little baby.

It is possible there was a second plant there - it is also very easy to accidentally break off a small new fan when repotting ...

Both look great!

I agree with your conclusion WhiteRabbit. The baby plant had a very good root system. I am confident that with time and good care it will grow into a very nice plant.
