Default Potting Aide To Produce Hollow Core High Mounds

Perplexed with trying to build high mounds, I've tried all kinds of products to keep the central core hollow.

Yesterday, I was at the grocery store. I was in the party product aisle, paper plates, napkins, etc. on the very top shelf I came across this product "Tube Shots". It was long enough to hold in the pot, install the plant on top, and when ready, easily pulls out of the mound from the bottom. The best part? On sale for US$1.49. I have twelve of these tubes. I don't need them all so if you want one, PM me and I'll send one to you.

I hope this photo helps you figure out how this tube works!

I have 'em!

But I used them as cheap-giveaway bud vases.

I have had the same problem over the years, I've tried potting and them trimming out a core, using a wine bottle only to have the core collapse upon putting into the pot.

My solution to the problem..... (see pic) it works with any pot and can be left in place, and the best bit, the hollow core will not collapse!

My mounding method is this--since I make my own pots and use the shoulders of a wine bottle to size them, the hole on the bottom is naturally the size of the neck of that bottle. I simply put the pot over the top of the bottle and mound from there. When done, I slowly twist and pull away and the mound remains intact and with a nice hollow center.

Garett and Ryan, two other ways to mound our Neos! Thank you for adding your input. For people reading this thread this will give additional ideas on how to pot our plants.

NWO and SE pottings aren't hollow. Al's Orchids sent mine with the inverted net pot. I put styro-peanuts in the center of the mound when the plant/pot is too small for an inverted net pot. I have a few in different media. Whatever works for you.
