Default Light for bean leaf ?

Specifically suikaden ...

I cooked one of these last year - admittedly, I got it in June, stuck on the west facing windowsill with my two other Neos, and weather may have been on the hot side - Obviously, more light than it was used to, as well as probably more heat than it was used to...

So I got another last month, and I'm trying to be careful with it - it's been in a shaded east facing window, which only gets a little sun early in the A.M., and I feel that probably isn't enough light, but I am worried about burning (or worse, cooking!) this one ...

Can these take as much light as the more typically foliaged Neos if acclimated?

Thanks for your help!

I don't have a good west window, so I have my Suikaden a few inches from a east window (the glass has a privacy film on it). The east window gets maybe 4 hours of direct sun but is bright all day. Last winter, I gave it supplemental light. It sits with my variegated Neos.

The bean leafs are slow growers for me, they might need more light.

I grow beans in the same light as all my other Neos, with Catt lighting. I haven't had any issues either and they're under T5 lights.

Hi Sonya, I have a Suikaden as well and although it can take fairly high light, it seems to not like the high temps very much. I noticed whenever it gets really hot, a few of the bottom leaves tend to turn yellow.

Also, it's not quite as "tough" as my other bean leaf ones. Perhaps a bit more on the touchy, wimpy side.

Ah! Thanks for your input! The poor one I got last year ... I knew it got burned, but just kept getting worse and worse for several days afterwards til it croaked . The other I had got at the same time, got burned, but did ok.

My 5 year old bean leaf Neo is in the shaded part of my south facing window(I can say it is in bright shaded light) and is in constant 80F in the day and 65F at night but I have to put it near the humidifier since the centralized AC dries it our fast....its been with me for the past 3 years now, I have just repotted it in samurai style moss....

I have mine where they get quite a bit of light but we always have a bit of a breeze which prevents them from burning. I only have one type of bean-leaf but there were extras in the pot.
I grow them in lava rock, net baskets.

Thanks! I'm trying to acclimate mine to the west facing window with my other Neos. Been a bit hot, it's at the shadiest end of the sill, in front of the open window, and I take it out of the window after short exposure to sun...
