Don't know what the Yatsufusa is suppose to look like but yours is cool looking (can you register it as a new mutation?)

Its more of a magazine sized information book Satomi and her dad came up with a while back for English readers. Its $20 and has *some* examples of each type of Neofinetia, but not nearly close to having all of them. I'm sure they'll be happy to include one in your next order if you ask...

I love the shape of this "non Yatsufusa" flower. Would be good to know which one it is...

I didn't find a name for it but there is an exact same flower in this article... figure 1 picture H
Mutant Flower Morphologies in the Wind Orchid, a Novel Orchid Model Species

it looks a bit like a variant of Benihichou...

Yes, for some reason this Kibana plant is very orangey yellow. I suspect that it has a lot of Ascocentrum in its background.

Yatsufusa should have petals and sepals that curl all the way back and rarely open up, so the flower looks like a balloon. I don't think it could be registered at this time. I think Jason said that in order for something new to be registered, it has to bloom out the same in three separate plants, or something like that....

Ah yes!! I remember seeing this website a while back. I'll have to look over this article again. It's very interesting. Thanks for the link!

A few more blooming....

Kinginrasha has rough textured leaves and thick flower parts (especially the spur).

Ito Sekai had damage on most of the growths but some new fans emerged. Flowers parts are smaller than the standard size and very thin on this one.

The variegation on my Orihime is not exciting at all but she's a reliable bloomer year after year.

My poor Benitengu has damage on all growths and no new fans yet Lots of buds though. Perhaps the last ones I will see on this plant so I better enjoy them while I can. More later....thanks for looking!

Look at all those buds and flowers on your Benitengu! Wow! I bet she makes a comeback. Another one added to my list.

Kinginrasha is pretty cool, too.

Why do you think this will be the last blooms you see? I may not have the cycle down, but there's a good chance of seeing new fans after flowering, no? I shall send your plants good thoughts. *beaming*
