By the way, I stumbled across an helpful Suikaden culture note in a current orchids_limited ebay listing:
"Flowers are typically white, but can have green tips on the petals if the conditions are cool and shady while in bud."
That's good to know, as I had been assuming that the green tips would appear under whatever conditions.

Good to know!
Also, my second box from Satomi got here yesterday and the plants were packed excellently and everything was in great shape, so I thin the damages were just a freak accident.

13 listings for japaneseorchids (Seed Engei), 1 for Monday and a dozen for Tuesday nite. Nothing I'm interested in, but probably something someone here may need.
Also hard to resist some of the ebay listings for New World (Monday afternoon) and Orchids Ltd (buy it now), but the prices versus my current budget *should* keep me in check.

Ill just watch these items too. Seed Engei has a lot of inexpensive plants. Chances are they won't end up that inexpensive. There are now only three plants on my wish list: Fukiden, Mangetsu, and Manjushage. I might just get all three from NWO.

You should see them in person. Each plant is lovingly groomed and checked on. I have visited Glenn twice now, these past two Saturdays. Kristen wasn't there this past Saturday--had to go to a Hog Roast, I was told. When Glenn and Kristen are around the plants, and I'm afraid I kinda got them there--they talk to me and preen the plants, removing any yellow/dead leaves, pulling weeds--weeds get into pot outside. Turning them around in their space.
Between the two of them, I think they cover all of their plants. After awhile, as I picked out a plant and examine it, I would pull out any weeds. But not any part of the plant, as I did not want to inadvertently damage the plant.
Before I visited New World Orchids, the only way I saw a plant was via posted pictures. That was okay. Imagine though you had ten plants or more, of the same variety with various growths for each type plant, and choosing anyone of the plants. And then once you make a choice, bringing it home--no three to four day wait time. Instant gratification!
