I am so sorry Matt it is hard to lose one of our Neos we spend so much time caring for them. Your post just taught us all to take a look at the roots of new plants regardless of who we purchase them from.

Yes, I have more Neofinetia but to loose one is tough! In fact I have four more large BS plants and a lot of small babies that I got from a flask. I'll do my best to not loose anymore of these plants.

Thanks for asking. We are up on a hill, but stranded by many of the street closures. I have filled up containers for the orchids though, in case our water becomes contaminated. Makes me wish we had been quicker with the RO system.

More rain is on the way, so tomorrow night should be fun....

I don't think I'll win it. I was hoping NWO had this plant but they were sold out. It makes a real difference when you can see a plant "in person" as opposed to buying via photos. As good as Seed Engei's photos are and their descriptions of the plant up for bid, standing over a dozen trays and pick up each plant and examining them from all angles--priceless.

Yes, picking them out in person is much preferable. I'm already looking forward to next spring's SEPOS show, but even there I'm only going to see a subset of what SE has.

Maybe in the distant future greenhouses will have remote control video cameras allowing us to peruse an entire greenhouse via the Internet. That would be a cool way to shop in lieu of actual travel (some of us don't do airplanes).

They could put videos of the plants for sale online right now...really good close 360 shots of the plants. That can be done easily and would help sales especially with the expensive Neos.
