Me too. Then the plant arrives and the sensation disappears.

I looked at the orchid and knew someone would take a big risk simply because of that last sentence in the write up. Something was written about the orchid being the big popular thing now. I am not explaining my thoughts well hope you guy understand what I am trying to say

Acquiring Neofinetias Via EBay
To Joy, YES!!! Once I get the plant, I am so pleased or as "they say at eBay" appreciable!
To Ginger, I agree, that statement that Jayfar quoted from eBay really set the pace for bidding this so high--I guess the three bidders saw an opportunity to invest in this plant for future gain. I thought I had seen risky investments before--remember when people use to collect Beanie Babies?

I don't think it was anyone in our little gang. It was their only bid on anything in the past 30 days. Their feedback rating is 118 and looking through the past year of feedbacks to japanese orchids I don't find anyone listed with that exact score.

No remorse here. I'm shameless. OTOH, if I had bought that one I think I would have a little remorse.

We understand perfectly I think. P. T. Barnum lives! Or risk-taking is still cool. Or Seed Engei's marketing is very effective. All of the above.

"Or Seed Engei's marketing is very effective."
Here is an example of that marketing: ""KINGINRASHA 金銀羅紗 "Gossamer Silver and Gold" has very rough leaf that other varieties don't. And also the flower would be rough and thick too. Usually FUKIRAN with rough texture is hard to grow so this variety helps you to advance knowing your growing condition is good. Flower bloom upward as first picture showing and it is very pleasant. Very unique variety indeed. The features they have on their flower and foliage are one of a kind. Try different variety and enjoy the variety that other people do not have.""

Wow... that is not in line with our thinking. Folks on this Board are all about sharing. I hope the other major vendors continue to offer us Neos.

I didn't really intend my comment about marketing as a negative. We are serious hobbyists, but our vendors, of necessity, are serious business people with all that that entails, including marketing their products as effectively as they can. At the same time I don't ever doubt that most orchid vendors, Seed Engei included, are passionate about the plants they provide and the culture behind them (in both senses of the term culture). I don't hold their marketing efforts against them in any way, but at the same time I try my best to be a savvy buyer.

I know Jay I was giving praise to the very cooperative spirit I feel on this Board. We share knowledge, disappointments and joy with each other. The vendors are also helpful especially for those of us like me who have so much to learn. Plus, where would we obtain these beauties. We are all a team.
