Don't be so hard on yourself. While seds can be easy, they aren't always! I have two minmaru shima, one seems to want death whilst the other beams up at me every time I go in to my grow area as if to say it is hapy to be in my collection, and would you please water me as I'd like to grow more leaves before winter. Seriously, there is no rhyme or reason. Honestly, it's a little obnoxious.
I also have two minmaru, one is a robust grower and the other, not as much... they all have differences, just like us human caretakers do.
Jeremiah's recommendations are great- and that is what works for him. I am going to guess, however, that you'll need to take your next minmaru and take it slow. If anything, keep it on the dry side. Thirsty roots can be recovered, rotted ones cannot.
Just throwing that out there.

Thanks Ryan you are really pulling me up out of this blue mood I put myself in over that cute little Siderea. .
I am thinking about getting this light stand system for my Neos. What do you guy think about it.

Red, I killed my first Sedirea japonica, a minmaru-shima within 3 months of getting it; it succumbed to a bacterial infection of some sort. Needless to say, I was heartbroken but recently got another one.
P.S. I am not an overwaterer, but still seem to be an equal opportunity sender to orchid heaven.

I also would recommend getting dome lights from like walmart and hanging them over a bench (or even a shelf) because these lights are much cheaper and work great!

Oh thanks Bob I knew I needed to check with you guys before I ordered it. You make great points that I didn't even think about. That bottom shelf will be a problem especially with my bad back. I will get my husband to go with me & check out Walmart tomorrow.

Bayco 10.5'' Brooder Clamp Light - Walmart.com I use these with a 100 watt 6500k CFL- they give me surprisingly high light levels!

Except it doesn't look like any Cym I've ever seen. Does it even have pbulbs? It looks monopodial. Okay, maybe those are the reasons I like it. Easy grower?
I'm so conflicted!
