Darn it, Satomi is slow to respond to emails sometimes. I wrote back Friday morning after my payment cleared for my Ryokusaihou. I wanted to get the fedex tracking number so I could divert it for morning pickup at my local fedex center, but no reply yet. Last time that happened fedex ended up misaddressing it (Seed Engei had it correct on their manifest, but fedex generated a label with 1 digit of street address missing) and it ended up taking 2 extra days to reach me.

You can message her on facebook via her personal page or the Seed Engei page. If she is not on your friends list already you may want to send her a friend request for easier communication in the future. I have not received my tracking number yet either for my order.

I am impatiently waiting for my little Daishogun. I hope this thing survives. The only reason it's relatively inexpensive is because it's still a verty tiny plant. Once it's mature it should be at least twice the current leaf span. I'll probably be a senior citizen by then.

That was the other one I was looking at. This one, right? I assume the plant pictured is the one you bought.

At first the Daishogun didn't appeal to me so much, but as I kept returning to look at the pic it really grew on me. If I had unlimited money I likely would have snatched that one up as well. Good to know it has been sold, as I can imagine in a moment of fiscal insanity I might have eventually ordered it.

Tracy, I just got an email reply from Satomi. She says mine will ship Monday, so I can guess yours will ship at the same time. I'm using 2-day fedex so I can divert the delivery to the nearby fedex center and pick it up at 9am on the morning of delivery, rather than have it bounce around in a hot truck all day. I go along with the USPS Priority Mail for the ebay stuff, but whenever it's an option I prefer fedex (your mileage may vary).

Yes, that is the one. The plants I get from her always arrive 2 days after she ships them out. I use paypal and it emails me the tracking number as soon as she sends it out for shipping. I chose Daishogun because it's variegation is light green on green. The yellow on green varieties seem to not grow as fast as the green on green ones. Also, I'm gonna hold out for a fukurin or sanfu or shima variegated Suikaden and Sekei, someday....somewhere...over the rainbow.
I noticed there seems to be some confusion on the board regarding the different types of variegation and translations on these plants. So here is a short explanation that hopefully will be helpful.
Fuukiran = orchid of the rich and noble (fuu=rich; ki=noble; ran=orchid)
Don't confuse this with FUKURIN, which is a type of variegation.
Fukurin = marginal variegation (the non green color is only on the outer edges of the leaf. When this is inverted it is called Nakafu. Example is Suruga fukurin or Gojyo fukurin.
Nakafu = the green marginal variegation is on the edges and non green is in the central part of the leaf. Example is Akebono.
Shima = distinct stripes of green and non green color with clearly defined borders. Rain-no-hikari or Kinkounishiki are examples.
Sanfu/ Chirifu = spread pattern (random combo of thick and thin lines). Fugaku is an example.
Torafu = tiger variegation (splotches of yellow, white, cream etc with indistint borders against the green). Examples are Houmeiden, Karanishiki, Kinrokaku, Setsuzan and many many others.
These are the main types; there are others.
Hope this helps.
