My object this summer is to get some decent growth on these babies before I give them their cool, dry winter rest, so I did want to accumulate a nice range of Neos while there's still a couple months of good growing ahead. I think starting this past spring was ideal for me, since I got to see a bunch of these actually spike and bloom.
The tentative plan for November is to put them in 2 little Ikea mini greenhouses in front of a southern window, which I will leave cracked open to keep them a little chilled. That way I can hopefully keep the humidity up sufficiently.

The time will also come when divisions will happen and you begin trading fans for other fans. Or you can just be lucky and have awesome chid friends that bless you with plants too. Those people are rare but are such sweet people to share and think of you when they see a plant you want or might like.
I have a few like that and they know who they are! Lol.

  The struggle is real!
You probably know this, but in case you don't-Most people don't mound the whole things with 4 or 5A moss! They do most of it with quality 3A NZ Sphagnum and just do the last layer with the expensive stuff!
I don't even use the 5A though. What I do is use 3A (if it's good enough for Dr. Lehr, it's good enough for me!) and pick out the long strands and save them for the finishing touches and mound and pot things with the 3A stuff.

I haven't decided if I'm going to continue with the sphag mound but I picked up hair nets to hold the mounds together if I do.

As a matter of fact, I have a goodly amount remaining of a 1 Kg bale of Besgrow Premium (which is AAA). The last time I moistened a batch to repot a bunch of Phals, I spent about a half hour separating out the longest strands and put those aside for future mounding. So far I've only had occasion to remound one bean leaf in a 2" pot. I did just as you suggest - formed a handful of loose moist sphag over a bottle, centered the plant atop it, and then dressed it with some of the longer stands. Basically, I just followed Jason Fischer's instructional youtube video.
