The one I ordered from Seed Engei came today but it had a rough trip. It was dry to the bone and most of the spagh just fell off. I watered it and will pot it tomorrow guess it will be okay. Looks pretty bad for $100.

Wow! That is pretty bad. The two plants I got from Seen Engei--arrived today too. They were both dry, but they were packed very well and did not suffer the same fate as yours. I have watered them. I hope your plant survives Ginger.

This is the clearest one I have. I think it will make thank goodness it didn't have spikes. That one leaf looks yellow.

Hmmm, looks like it should be okay, but the mound is a bit disheveled, like the postal service drop kicked it a few times. You might want to shoot an email to Satomi to let her know about it. I think that lower leaf was already starting to yellow in their catalog pictures and nothing to worry about.

How long was it in transit with the USPS? Mine usually arrive pretty dry, but none the worse for the wear, except my Homeiden had the very tippy tip of its topmost leaf bent/broken.

They shipped it on the 7/2 and it came today. The box was not smashed; it was just dry and only packed with a piece of newspaper around it. I can fix the mound no problem but I really don't think they pack as well as some of the other vendors. I hope I didn't just commit heresy by saying that

No you make a good point. I've noticed that as well. Orchids Limited and Big Leaf, on the other hand, just to give two examples I'm familiar with, are aces at packing plants for maximum protection.

Yes, I never have a problem with Orchids Limited and the plant is nicely mounded. When I was buying on eBay many Neos came in a paper cup with green moss. Some of those auctions ran up to quite a bit of money. I thought they would do better with a direct order.

I wouldn't worry about the lower leaf being that color. My manjushage's lower leaves are that color too and they've been that way for a while. I think it was overexposure to sun and heat. Just keep it away from direct summer sun and it'll be fine.

Okay Ginger, even though there have been many glowing comments about Seed Engei, Satomi puts on her pants one leg at a time just like the rest of us! LOL! My observation is that Satomi had a lot of sales this past week, whilst it may seem like a big company, I think Seed Engei IS Satomi. She probably does everything. I'm starting to sound like I'm rationalizing...but I think she seems like a person who would feel bad about how your plant was shipped and delivered to you. Giving your feedback to her, she would try to make amends.
