New World Orchids is back! They have four plants up for auction ending 03/04/14. This plant caught my attention. Photo from New World Orchids eBay auction.

Yes, it is like a yellow plant with green stripes.

Hopefully enough green stripes to sustain the plant. Then again it's managed to grow into a substantial multi-growth plant already, so it would seem to be viable longer term with proper care.

So the Seiou-Nishiki I won 'started to burn'
& I've been offered a replacement

but made an offer on the original as well so I can try & save it (I'm thick headed, I've been resuscitating the same Paph for over a year and a half, it was one of my first, we're up to .75 growths btwn 2 fans)
you can definitely see what's wrong with it, but I will try my best to turn it around.

Top leaf is definitely turning, but who knows & I can't lose with the variegation on this fan. Should show up tomorrow, let's see what we can do.

What happened brn_thmbs. How did it burn--cold weather? I can readily see a discoloration on the second, single-fan plant, but I cannot see the problem with the first plant. Both are beautiful. As others have said, Satomi/Seed Engei is very helpful. Like you, I'm an orchid rescuer so an ailing plant is something I take on as a challenge. By the way, that plant holder you have your plants installed, where do you get these trays? I have seen them at orchid shows, and now I see you have them too. Can you tell where you got these plant trays? Thank you.

Those are the pics she sent me with the news of the replacement, so I don't know about the trays. The plants actually both just arrived this morning. I'm not exactly sure what happened that the leaf burned, but I'm hoping it doesn't effect the long term of this plant. There's a new leaf on the way

It doesn't look like anything fungal or bacterial rather temp or physical damage...possible cold damage. Was the plant in contact with the side of the box? I've had this before. But feel lucky, it isn't brown rot! I still have brown rot show up. Yep. Suuuucks.
