This is a little intriguing, listed for Monday evening:

Neofinetia Falcata Japaneseorchid Bean Leaf Stripe Variety Yamato Nishiki

Excerpt:
Quote:
This variety came out from seedling of FUGAKU and produce spread stripe, Variegation will be very similar to FUGAKU.but the difference is the size. YAMATO-NISHIKI stays in small and leaves grow tight. That is why when it become nice clump,
So they're actually calling this a bean leaf, at least in the ebay listing title, but with nowhere near the typical stratospheric prices for variegated bean leaf.

Haha!
We definitely have similar tastes Jayfar! I suspect this one is going to go for a hefty price...

Another conundrum: Kouen, Yamato-Nishiki. Both? I'd settle for a Manjushage.

Just the Kouen for me, I had to let the Yamato-Nishiki slide at that price.

Congrats Jayfar!

When I first saw it I thought that I might bid on it. Glad I didn't now....

I think this much better photo from flickr may be the very same Kouen that was displayed at the judging:

EDIT:

And from about 5 months back in this thread, here's another pic from the same flickr user cited above:

Here's another pic of the Kouen from a lower angle I found on flickr. From the note on flickr, it seems the owner of the account also owns this plant.

Also, the owner's comment on flickr and a close look at this latter photo gives a pretty good idea of the sole reason why the plant wasn't a top 5 winner. It went to show in a broken pot.

Based on this picture, I would understand its poor placement. Cracked pot? But also the mound is not symmetrical to the pot. Good lesson learned. I wish SE had another spectacular Koeun or Koen in this series of plants for this Wednesday and Thirsday.

Thank you s.kallima. I was not going to bid on it but I had not seen such variegation where one side is yellow/white and then the other side is green. Plus it was inexpensive.

Mine!

And then I saw this little growth peeking out of its Tsuke.
